This year’s theme, Beyond the Curriculum: Exploring the Future of Science Teaching and Learning, recognises that while curriculum frameworks provide the structure for learning, exceptional science education extends far beyond content delivery and assessment. It is about creating learning experiences that inspire curiosity, encourage critical thinking, embrace innovation, and prepare students for a rapidly changing world.
STAVCON 2026 will provide a platform for dynamic discussions and evidence-based strategies that support high-quality teaching and learning across early years, primary and secondary science. The conference will explore emerging priorities in science education, including future-focused pedagogies, tried and tested evidence-based practices, interdisciplinary learning, technology integration, wellbeing, sustainability, equity, authentic real-world connections, and the integration of Indigenous Science into science education.

Tram:
The closest stop is Tram Stop 1 – Melbourne University, which is directly across from the entrance of the Sidney Myer Asia Centre.
Train:
The closest train station is Parkville Station which is a 10 min walk to Sidney Myer Asia Centre.

There are several parking lots around the University and 2 hour side street parking is available. There is limited accessibility parking options on campus.
Eastern Precinct Carpark (take the overpass into the School of Physics)
Ace Parking Cardigan House (cross Swanston St at the Grattan St intersect).
Ace Parking Faraday St (cross Swanston St at Faraday St).
There is no taxi rank out the front of the building. Direct your taxi driver to 163 Gratton St, Carlton and then it will be a short walk on to campus.
